Who do you consult if you are in a digital mess? Or do you already know everything?

How about your colleagues? Is their camera on? Do they ask if you can send a link for the meeting? Are they able to share a document? From which account does your colleague call?

These are some of the signs showing that your colleague has difficulties working digitally.

Is it normal for them to find it difficult?

Yes!

Almost every team is struggling with this

Out of fear of being considered “stupid”, the digital illiterate remains silent. Or they shout “I’m too old anyway.” What we often hear is that the digital illiterate is ashamed.

As an empathetic team leader you might that there is nothing to be ashamed of.

What about your digital skills? Can you help your colleagues? Or do you also take a covert position?

Beeps and pop-ups lead to a high workload

That wouldn’t be strange either. Because from one day to the next it was ON and GO. Perhaps limited time and money was invested by the organization to teach everyone how to work digitally. And now a year later you can see this in the many forms of communication. WhatsApp, Skype, Google Meets, WebEx, Zoom and Teams. We see that organizations use different options. As a result, one always has to look for where a meeting is or how this means of communication works. This is also very distracting. Beeps and pop-ups are of course not conducive to good focus.

So do your colleagues complain about lack of time, do they miss meetings?

Read this sign as a request for help from your fine colleagues.

And don’t forget, everyone misses the fun things that colored our lives. With this knowledge, the connection in the digital workplace is more important than ever.

Fresh spring breeze through your workplace

Is there room within the organization to learn more? As a team leader, how do you blow a fresh spring breeze through the workspaces of your team, working from home? Because your drowing colleague might think: we are already a year further. I am afraid to ask for (more) help. We will go back to the office in a few months anyway.

But hybrid work is here to stay! And that can be a lot of fun too. That is up to you as a manager. For example, it would already make a big difference to adopt one digital workplace. This way you all face in the same direction and yes, you already understand: that only has advantages.

Do you want to know more?
